Solar Thermal Water Heating

Solar Thermal Panels are one of the most efficient ways of harnessing the sun's free energy. Recent technology advances mean thermal systems are now more cost effective than ever.

Solar water heating systems consist of a solar collector, a hot water cylinder, and accessories such as a controller, pump, and pipework. The sun heats up a liquid (usually a water & anti-freeze mixture) in the collector, which is then pumped through a heat exchanger coil in the hot water cylinder, thereby heating up the water.

The collector is usually mounted on a southerly facing roof. A four square metre collector is typically sufficient to provide most of the hot water for a three-bedroom home during spring, summer and autumn, with a conventional oil or gas boiler or electric immersion heater providing for any shortfall.

  • For on-roof Installation
  • For Flat Roof Installation
  • For Wall Installation

Solar hot water panels in Northern Ireland can provide between 50-70% of the annual domestic hot water requirements. Coupled with our Intelligent Energy Management System you could save as much as 55% of the TOTAL fuel you use.

Solar Thermal PanelProduct Overview

  • A Typical Solar Thermal Installation

A solar thermal system can work in conjunction with virtually all other types of heating system and requires very little maintenance - just a check-over every 3-4 years, many of the first systems are now 20 years old and still going strong.

  • Toughened Glass Solar Tubes The toughened glass evacuated tubes are certified to withstand the hail impact test DIN EN12975-2:2006 using ice-balls.

Evacuated tube technology provides rapid conductivity and transfer of heat and is 30% more effective than flat panel collectors.

  • How It Works Infra red rays which pass through the clouds are also absorbed and converted into usable heat.

With no moving parts the process is both simple and reliable and has proven to be one of the most efficient methods of extracting solar energy.
